One of the ways that women express their beauty is through their dress. The way that a person dresses is also usually a sign of their values. For Christians, it can be a sign to unbelivers of their aunthenticity.
1 Peter 3:3-4 says, "Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfailing beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight.
Beauty should come from within a person. However, much too many Christians are succumbing to the latest fashion trends. Their rationale is that they want to "look good."
We often allow the pictures in magazines and the music aired on the radio to dictate what we wear. Few people consider their faith when shopping for clothing. In fact, some people have an entirely diffferent wardorbe for church.
However, those same women will not hesitate to refer to themselves as queens. The title "queen" denotes royalty. Movies such as "The Prince and Me" depict what queens wear and how they behave. A queen dresses elegantly, but modestly. She is very poised and speaks proper English.
Queens do not follow the trends, they set them. Furthermore, dressing modestly is not a sin. Seductive clothing attracts the wrong type of men. Most of whom only want to have sex with women who dress provocatively. We do not have to show some skin to attract our future husband.
Keys to Dressing Modest:
- Renew your mind so that you do not conform to the standards of the world.
- Jesus set you free, but do not exercise your freedom in a way that does not glorify God.
- Crucify your flesh daily so you will not gratify the sinful nature.
